Moments before the final day of the 2008 Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle began, ASP Women’s World Tour Manager Brooke Farris caught up with some of the girls to see what culinary delights they partake in before they need to compete at the top of their game...
ASP WQS Situation Room - Monday, September 1, 2008
Another week, another massive ’QS for the men, and definitely some movement. A big congratulations to former ASP Top 45 member Phil MacDonald for his big win at the ASP WQS 6-Star Buondi Billabong Pro in Portugal and to USA’s Patrick Gudauskas for his runner-up finish and his movement up the ASP WQS ratings to No. 4, and with another massive European qualifying event this week, we’ll be off and running.
Performance Time
Any hardcore surf fan has seen images, video and read all about how the ASP Top 45 can absolutely dismantle Lower Trestles. The wave is performance-oriented and the boys know how to let loose in the rippable A-frames. Well, as the saying goes, “there’s no rest for the wicked,” and while we’re confident that the ladies of the ASP Top 17 are nothing but perfect, innocent angels, they still need to get their butts in gear and head across the Atlantic for stop No. 4 on the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour, the Billabong Girls Pro Rio. With reigning ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) back on top of this seasons ratings, and a bevy of challengers looking to take her down, Brazil is sure to deliver.
