ASP News - 2008/11/18 21:23 ASP WQS Situation Room – Monday, November 17, 2008
Arguably one of the heaviest weekends all season long for our weary ASP WQS campaigners. The women are all but shut down after Haleiwa action, although a few challengers still have a chance. The men are much more interesting in terms of qualification as some of our formerly “safe” patrons are eliminated and staring down the barrel of some Hawaiian heavy hitters just outside the bubble. Read on to find out who’s safe and who should start poking their voodoo dolls

ASP Releases Global Schedule
The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) International today released its 2009 events calendar. Dates and locations for the ASP World Tour, ASP Women’s World Tour, ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS), ASP Pro Junior and ASP World Longboard events are now posted on www.aspworldtour.com.

Bede’s Blog: Defend the Crown
It was really cool to arrive home to Stradbroke Island in Australia and find my family and friends had organized a party for me after winning in Brazil. It was a great buzz and drove home the good feeling around securing my third ASP World Tour win and moving to No. 2 in the ratings behind Kelly ahead of Hawaii. I’m a believer in celebrating your victories, but you can never stop moving.

Vans Triple Crown of Surfing
Hawaii, the mecca of high-performance surfing, is back in gear with the 2008 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. For the men, it represents a last stab at Dream Tour qualification as well as the hunt for the coveted Triple Crown Title, while the women are hunting for the 2008 ASP Women’s World Title in addition to qualification points and Hawaiian bragging rights. Following this week’s events at Haliewa, we move to Sunset and then off to Pipe and Honolua Bay for the culmination. Don’t miss a second of action!

Bugs: Congratulations to Bonga and Onward to Hawaii
A most deserved triumph for the great Bonga Perkins earlier this week at San Onofre. The second of the Oxbow World Longboard Tour events went off without a hitch, culminating in Bonga claiming his second ASP World Longboard Title in the closest title race in any discipline in living memory. This was a fantastic event, it had everything, and with title…
