Re:Forster Tuncurry Fishing Report, November 2009 - 2009/11/28 08:12
I'd like to say that the offshore fishing situation had improved, but that could be stretching the truth. Cooler, dirty water is holding off our section of the coast and extends well out to sea beyond the FAD. Divers tell me that the bottom temperatures are even worse. Having said that, there have been some fish caught including a few Trag after dark, some Snapper etc. The only baitfish around are Yellowtail, the usual schools of slimys have disappeared. I've had a couple of reports of small Snapper being taken off rocks at the base of Cape Hawke and at Seal Rocks. A steady burley trail seems to be bringing the best results. I'd like to think that with the good tides this weekend, and with a Full Moon next week, that the beach fishing would improve. The only reports of note are of a few small Mulloway off Diamond Beach. The estuary is being effected in the lower sections by the cool ocean water. Further up the lake where the water is warmer is where the best of the fishng and crabbing is being done. Most of the summer species are settling into their usual routine and can be targeted with baits or lures.
