Rockhampton Fishing Report - 2008/08/11 14:51
Hi there I'm Dean Ruff from Kalka Bait and Tackle and here's what's been happening around the area for the last week or so.
The weather over the weekend has been kind to the boaties letting some get out off shore around the islands and wet a line. Reports of Spanish Mackerel are coming through with reports coming from around the Keppel's. The closer islands have also been producing a couple of fish too if you can find a parking space around Iron Pot or Ritamata Rocks. Main reports are Doggie Mackerel (Qld School) and a few surface feeders like Trevally coming back.
The river has been producing some good fish over the last week. With the river turning green and salting up and the temperature starting to climb Barra, King Salmon and Crabs have been the main reports in the city. Even towards the mouth of the river there has still been good numbers of Crabs, Grunter and Bream coming through.
Coorooman Creek and Keppel Sands have also been coming back with strong reports. Bream, Cod, Grunter, Flathead and Crabs are the main reports coming back from the area in strong numbers.
That's what's been happening around the waters lately, just remember you can drop in to Kalka Bait and Tackle and see me to get your photo's taken of any fish you catch to be issued in future weekly pages, along with any fishy tales you would like to share with other keen anglers.
