Welcome to the paddleboard.com newsletter for the week of April 27, 2008.
We've been up to quite a bit at the website, trying to find new ways to refine how we cover the world of ocean sports, so here are the new features that we've been able to add that you should know about:
For one, we've somehow got our hand into organizing a race series, working with a handful of event organizers who actually know what they're doing from events up and down the California Coast to create something called the California Grand Prix. The details are all on the site, but the upshot is that we're taking the best five of a competitor's results from eight races on the West Coast, and will be declaring a Paddleboard.com California Grand Prix Champion in the categories of Unlimited, Fourteen, Stock, Women's and Stand-Up Paddle at the end of the season. You only need to compete in five events to be eligible, and at the end of the season, we'll be throwing a big shindig to award prizes (cash, gear and fish tacos) to the winner.
Also of interest is a new video series that we've been updating—a series of three minute or shorter videos on exciting people, places, races and projects that are occurring throughout the world of watersports. Up now is a stand-up surf vid with Hobie's Chuck Patterson.
Also, we're staying current with all the results from races across the world, complete with photos and race run-downs, so after you enter your local race, be sure to check in to our site for complete details.
