The Clarence River Classic Cruise and Yacht Race.
Sunday October 4th to Friday October 9th 2009
Sunday 4th October
•Motor or Sail to overnight at Ulmarra. Please leave with sufficient time to arrive at Ulmarra for a BBQ commencing at 7.30pm. (remember that daylight saving begins Saturday Night)
Allow time to moor and secure your boat, before the BBQ.
•The BBQ and briefing will mark the start of the Cruise and will be held in the park, immediately downstream from the Ulmarra Hotel. Please bring your own food and drink for this event as Ulmarra has limited facilities at night.
•Note: 3rd and 4th October -- the Bridge to Bridge Ski Race is held from Grafton to Maclean and return. River is closed from Grafton to Harwood for sailors and other users for Saturday and Sunday. It is expected that the river will be open at about 1.00 pm Sunday 4th Oct
•You must notify the club if you require assistance for secure parking in the Grafton Area.
This is available some distance from the launching area but participants must make their own arrangements for the return journey to the ramp. (Taxi?)
Monday 5th October
Cruise briefing to be held on the Jetty at Ulmarra 8.30am on Monday. (Breakfast is available in Ulmarra.)
Sail to Brushgrove Hotel for lunch, then on to Lawrence Pub for dinner and an overnight stay
Tuesday 6th October
Visit Maclean for lunch and shopping, then on to Dinner and overnight at the Harwood Hilton Hotel.
Wednesday 7th October
The Harwood Bridge will open on Wednesday 9.00 am. This will allow yachts to pass downstream.
A Race or Sail, to Iluka from Harwood for 2 nights overnight stay on the beach near Sedges Reef Hotel.
4.00 pm start of the Port of Yamba Yacht Club Twilight River Race, all are invited to participate.
Thursday 8th October
All day to visit the surrounding area and this may include a visit to Yamba.
Friday 9th October
Sail (or Race with a gate start) to Harwood for Bridge opening 4.00 PM.
An overnight stay at Maclean, with dinner at the RSL Club.
Clarence River Classic Yacht Race from Maclean to Grafton
Saturday 10th October
•Briefing and sign on at 10.00am Maclean.
•Race will have three divisions, (prizes will be awarded in classes, depending on numbers)
•Non spinnaker yachts to start at 11.00am. Spinnaker and deep keel yachts will to start at 12 noon.
•Distance by water from Maclean to Grafton is approximately 35km
•BBQ and presentation to be held at Corcorane Park following the finish of the race.
The event is to be open to Keel Yachts and Trailable yachts Type 1 and Multihulls with accommodation (Cat. 5 Race).
Come and join us for a week or a weekend, but enjoy the mighty Clarence River
Nominations for the cruise and race should be received no later than Monday 21st September .
All entries received for the cruise by this date will receive a free T Shirt.
Entries fees are:- Cruise only, $30.00. Race and Cruise $50.00.
Race only $30.00 (late entries accepted on race day $40.00).
