Synoptic chart for Friday, 22nd August 2008
A front is spreading very cold southwesterly winds and showers across the southeast. Snow is developing on the Alps and is lowering to around 300m in TAS. Southerlies are causing drizzle along the southern coastline. Milder northwesterly winds are affecting eastern QLD.
The southern jet is sending a front through the southeast with very cold southwesterly winds. The northern jet is not having much effect on the weather, other than generating some high cloud over WA and southern NT.
